NIE Data Centre Shutdown from 20-21 Dec 2019

We wish to inform users that Academic Computing & Information Services (ACIS) will be performing the following IT preventive maintenance:

 

Date and Time Purpose IT Services Affected
20 Dec 2019 (Fri), 5.15pm to 21 Dec 2019 (Sat), 11.59pm Annual Building Electrical Maintenance for Blk 1, 2, and 3

The NIE data centre will be shut down. All IT services will not be available on the campus.

 

The following IT services will be made available from the Internet using a second data centre outside NIE campus. There will be intermittent disruption during fail-over on Fri night and fail-back on Sat night:

 

1) Blackboard

2) LIBRIS Portal and e-databases

3) NIE Corporate Web Site

4) NIE Portal

5) Staff email

Closure of Library Cafe from 23 Dec 2019

Bookmark Café at Level 3, NIE Library will be closed from 23 Dec 2019 to 5 Jan 2020 for maintenance works. It will re-open on 6 Jan 2020.

Fire Alarm Test at Library on 26 Oct 2019

We wish to inform users that DED will be carrying out the testing and commissioning of the upgraded fire alarm system on 26 Oct 2019, Saturday from 0900 hrs to 1700 hrs at all blocks in NIE.  

 

During the test, fire alarm bells and speakers will be sounded intermittently. Please do not be alarmed.

 

Please do not use the lifts during the test.

The Library will be closed on 23 Feb 2019 (Sat) for an annual NIE staff event. Loans due on this date will be automatically extended to the following work day (25 Feb 2019, Mon).
